Boebert, Beetlejuice, and Boob Honks

An Authentic Theater Experience in Modern America.

On September 10th, 2023, Lauren Boebert, US House of Representative for Colorado's 3rd congressional district, was ejected from a family-friendly showing of the hit musical Beetlejuice, based on the movie of the same name. During this showing, Boebert and her date, 46-year-old Quinn Gallagher, were escorted off of the premises for repeatedly groping each other, vaping, taking photos, and just generally being a disturbance, resulting in both of them being removed after numerous complaints. This was later confirmed by the recently released CCTV footage showing the behavior in plain view.

Now, obviously, a warning in terms of decency: you won’t see anything too graphic in the video below, but it shows Boebert and her date groping each other in their seats surrounded by other patrons, presumably families, as this was, again, a family-friendly showing.

The CCTV footage is pretty cut and dry, but this hasn’t stopped Lauren and her PR team from working overtime to attempt to down-play the events as “just getting carried away” or her recent statement:

“While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did, and I regret that.”

Let’s get something straight here: she isn’t a private citizen, and she certainly uses her public position as a representative of Colorado to bring harm and malice to those who do have private lives, like Drag Queens. A group she has spent considerable energy and time trying to paint as groomers and pedophiles for their “sexually explicit content” being shown to children during things like Drag Queen story times. A thing that’s not happening: no drag queen anywhere is making any sexually explicit suggestions, acts, or otherwise being inappropriate around children; they’re just reading books, and no one is forcing you to take your kids to a show. So shush.

Despite this, you’d be interested to know her date is a Democrat-supporting owner of a bar that hosts LGBTQ+ and drag events in Aspen, Colorado. The events included a women’s party for Aspen Gay Ski Week and a Winter Wonderland Burlesque & Drag Show. None of this is bad in its own right; just merely pointing out the hypocrisy. Further solidifying that even their most consistent moral crusades stop the second it is an inconvenience to them. Unfortunately, this doesn’t undo the damage done to those communities at the hands of people like Lauren Boebert.

Thank you for reading Socratically Self Critical. This post is public so feel free to share it.

It’s not lost on me that this is the second occurrence in less than 6 months of someone from the republican house committing lewd acts despite their constant rhetoric of “decency”. Just a few months ago, Marjory Taylor Green was showing Hunter Biden’s nudes to the House Committee. Hunter, by the way, is an actual private citizen, unlike Boebert. I wrote about it previously here:

It’s interesting how often these folks are willing to be hypocrites in pursuit of their selfish wants.
